Man nabs free 300-pound Romney sign with his 'Obama-supporting Democrat brother'

If you are a Mitt Romney fan, you missed out on a free 300-pound Romney sign shaped like the state of Iowa.

This giant slab of steel was posted recently on Craigslist and is now a part of Republican Don McDowell's collection of political memorabilia.

McDowell, 27, picked up the 300-pound Romney sign with his brother who is a registered Democrat.

While the sign was listed as a freebie on Craigslist, McDowell had to rent a truck and pay a few friends and his brother to pick up the sign.

Renting the truck and getting some physical help, including some help from McDowell's "Obama-supporting Democrat brother,"set him back about $100.

The sign was created by factory workers in Dubuque, Iowa with the Mitt Romney's key campaign phrase, "Believe in America" carved into the front of the sign.

According to CNN, the sign had hung behind Romney at a 2011 campaign rally in Dubuque. It ended up at the Des Moines campaign office after Romney lost the election to President Obama.

“I’ve been going to political events since about the time I could walk so I’ve got signs, buttons and things from the caucuses and the straw poll. - Dan McDowell via CNN

If the brothers decide that the Romney sign is causing some stress due to their bi-partisan family relationship, they can ditch it for about $150 in cash at a scrap metal recycling plant.
