Man murdered through use of hook-up app Grindr

Parents are always telling their children to be careful of using meeting or “hook-up” apps found on social media. Adults need to take that advice to heart, too, especially now that there's been a murder. Philadelphia’s Channel 6 Action News is reporting on May 6 that a 25-year-old man was murdered in Chester, Pa. as a result of using the social app Grindr.

The body of 25-year-old Dino Dizdarevic was found at the bottom of a Chester fire escape. “It was awful. I don’t think there are any words that could actually describe what I felt or even my family,” Dino’s sister Una Dizdarevic said. Dino had disappeared on Wednesday. He lived in near 13th and Spring Garden streets.

When his body was found, it was evident that he had suffered blunt force trauma to the head at the approximate location of 9th and Parker Streets in Chester. Police are saying that Dino Dizdarevic met up with someone on the soap app Grindr. His phone is in evidence.

Dino Dizdarevic was a chemical engineer at a firm in Burlington County, N.J. The family is from war-torn Bosnia. “I definitely could not believe that somebody who had been through all that with me could just so easily be taken like that,” Una said.

There is a fund set up by Dino’s family as a memorial. If you would like to help, you can click HERE for more information.

"It's sad for those of us at one time that could be lonely and they prey upon that. They know how to prey upon that. They know which buttons to push and how to take you in," Angela Bobo-Tilden of Chester said.

This is not the first time a crime has been committed through the use of a social app. According to police, a Canadian man was robbed and raped in Center City Philadelphia last month after meeting up with someone through Grindr.

If you are an adult and use these types of apps to find companionship, please be careful. If you are a parent of a child who may use these apps to make friends or for dates, show them this story and others. This type of meeting, at least alone, is a recipe for disaster. Dino Dizdarevic learned that fact in the worst possible way.
