Man murdered outside Northwest club after altercation

Washington, D.C. --- A man was shot to death early Saturday in the Cardozo/Shaw Neighborhood of Northwest Washington.

Police say they received a report of a shooting around 1:15 a.m. Saturday in the 1900 block of 9th Street NW.

Police say the victim, later identified as 30-year-old Joseph Hardin of Alexandria, Va., was pronounced dead on the street.

Preliminary reports suggest he had been involved in an altercation in a nearby club. When he stepped outside, the suspect shot him multiple times.

Several minutes later, police say officers captured the suspect, 24-year-old Cedric Spicer of Northwest Washington, D.C. Spicer has been charged with Murder One while Armed.

Police closed 9th Street in both directions for several hours for the investigation.
