Man made up pizza sob story, lied about his hungry family

The man who made up his pizza sob story in an effort to gain access to a free pizza has finally confessed to the truth.

According to the Washington Post, David Randall Lacey entered a Papa John’s pizza place with a bandana over his face. He then walked up to the cashier inside the restaurant and handed her a note demanding money.

At that point, Lacey allegedly broke down crying in front of the cashier. Telling the Papa John’s employee that he had fallen onto hard times, he claimed he needed the money to support his wife and children, who were starving.

The employee, wanting to be nice and clearly falling for the man’s sob story, decided to make Lacey a large pepperoni pizza, as well as chicken wings. Lacey waited for his meal, and once he received it, left the Papa John’s restaurant.

Now, after being arrested on suspicion of felony robbery, Lacey claims that he made up the pizza sob story. Police have learned that he has no wife or children. Lacey claims that, while he lied about his family, that he performed the ruse because he truly needed food.
