A 23-year-old man killed his girlfriend’s small, six-month-old Pomeranian puppy. He killed the pommie because she had urinated on the floor. On Monday, Dec. 23, Ryan Baklarz pleaded guilty to animal cruelty.

Judge Glen Krelove said that Baklarz was guilty of a “nasty act and a cowardly act.” He had body slammed the puppy into the floor constructed of floor tiles.

He was ordered to perform 50 hours of community service and was also put on probation for one year. Baklarz was also ordered to get help for anger issues and he has to stay away from Berdan.

Baklarz had told the court that he was at Ashley Berdan’s apartment. Berdan, 23, is his wheelchair-bound girlfriend of whom he became jealous when she left to go on an errand with a good friend. She left Angel, her fluff ball with big brown eyes, behind in the apartment for the short time she was going to be away. He became enraged when Angel urinated on the floor, and killed the pommie puppy. He then put her body into a plastic grocery bag and left the dog’s remains directly in front of the refrigerator.

He followed this up by sending Berdan a text message telling her, "I killed the dog."

Berdan was horrified to find her dog dead and in the plastic bag. She said, "She was the sweetest little thing ever. She was like a fluffy teddy bear."
