A man died early Sunday morning after losing control of his vehicle and slamming into a concrete wall in Midtown.
The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the man as Mr. Kerry D. Harris, Jr., 27, of Atlanta.
The wreck happened around 12:15 a.m. near 332 Ponce De Leon Ave., according to Atlanta police.
Investigators said Mr. Harris was heading west when he lost control of his car while negotiating a curve.
“The vehicle left the roadway and struck a fire hydrant, rock wall, and concrete wall,” police spokesman Sgt. Greg Lyon said.
When officers found arrived at the scene, the vehicle was resting on the driver's side.
“There was approximately 2 feet of intrusion into the passenger compartment, concentrated on the driver’s door area,” Sgt. Lyon said.
Mr. Harris was pronounced dead on the scene and firefighters had to extricate his body from the vehicle.
Investigators are still trying to determine why he lost control of his car.
