The Dec. 25 shooting occurred at 3:30 a.m. at Whitestar MTR, an auto repair and restoration business, on Cedarhurst Avenue in Medford. Police said at least two masked men entered the shop and demanded cash before unloading the barrage of bullets.
Nineteen-year-old Taleik Bristel, of Patchogue, was mortally wounded in the gunfire. Three other people, identified by law enforcement sources as two men and a woman, were also shot.
The surviving victims were taken to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Center in East Patchogue with non-life-threatening injuries.
Det. Lt. Jack Fitzpatrick, the commander of Suffolk’s Homicide Squad told Newsday the victims were “social acquaintances.” A motive for the crime remains unclear.
