Man hospitalized after being shot with arrows

An Elmwood man was taken to the hospital this morning after he was found in his home with three arrow wounds to his body.

Police say Samuel Douglas Stacey, 50, was shot twice in the back and once in his right hand. His family reports that he has undergone surgery at this hour after suffering a punctured lung.

Reports are that Harry Spivey, 57, was staying with Stacey but his last known address is in Adams County.  According to police, Spivey was "disrespecting the victim's 11-year-old daughter and that's when an argument ensued." Elmwood Police Chief William Peskin said "a neighbor heard shouting about 4 a.m. and then someone heard him calling for help later."

Spivey was apparently homeless prior to being taken in by Stacey. It appears, police say, that Spivey shot Stacey as he was sleeping on a couch. Chief Peskin says Spivey is known as an accomplished hunter and his last known address is in Adams County.

Spivey remains at large. Officers are looking for a green Eagle Vision, with the driver's side rear window shattered and Ohio license plates EKE 7021.

Spivey is a heavyset, white man, bald, wearing white sweatpants and an orange shirt. If you have any information for police, call Crimestoppers at (513) 352-3040.
