A man jealous over his ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend reportedly dined on his heart with a knife and fork. The Huffington Post reports that police were called to a home in the Cape Town area of South Africa township by a neighbor who witnessed Nomonde Soloshe's ex-boyfriend eating her new boyfriend's heart after stabbing him to death.

The unnamed suspect, a Zimbabwean national, reportedly cut out 62-year-old Mbuyiselo Manonaen's heart prior to police arriving on the scene. When authorities arrive, neighbors overheard him saying, "I am the king" and mumbling about his love for his former girlfriend. In addition to being stabbed and carving his heart out, the suspect is accused of biting the face of his victim.

Neighbors reportedly told police, "The whole situation was crazy. We were shouting at him to stop, but he did not listen."

South Africa's Independent Online states that a witness to the gruesome scene, Nkululeko Mpambo, saw part of the attack through a window but was too scared to go into the house. Mpambo stated that he saw the accused man sitting next to Manona’s body on the bedroom floor and that his "hands were bloody and he kept digging from the body and stuffing his face.”

Mpambo told reporters that when police arrived, he followed them to the bedroom where he saw a bloody piece of the heart victim's heart dripping from the perpetrator's mouth.

The jealous man was arrested on murder charges. Western Cape deputy police commissioner Sharon Jephta told reporters was “definitely a love triangle.”
