On October 16, Lincoln County sheriff's deputies arrested Lavonte Baldwin, 24, after he reportedly sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 10, apparently transmitting STDs to the victim.
The case began when staff at the Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital notified the sheriff's department that they were treating the young girl for both chlamydia and gonorrhea.
Authorities said Baldwin attempted to refute the claims of sexual contact by saying the victim contracted the diseases through his bed sheets or a toilet.
However, Baldwin later admitted to molesting the girl, according to court documents.
Baldwin has been charged with two counts of first-degree statutory sodomy. He is currently being held at the Lincoln County Jail on a $250,000 cash-only bond.
