An accident in Deland Friday night killed a man from Astor, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. FHP spokesperson Sgt. Kim Montes says 33-year old Cesar Nevarez was driving south on Grand Avenue around 10:30 p.m. Friday, and lost control of his vehicle for an unknown reason. Troopers say the car left the road and the left side of the car hit a tree at Grand Avenue and Banana Street. Nevarez was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the FHP, he had not been wearing a seat belt. Troopers are also continuing to investigate the case.
