The body of a man was found on the side of a road in Columbia. And on Friday, the Richland County Coroner’s Office identified him as Mr. Samuel S. Clemons, 37, of 3404 Magrath St.
He died from a gunshot wound to the upper body, Coroner Mr. Gary Watts said.
So far, police have not arrested any suspect for the man’s murder and they are still trying to determine the motive for his shooting.
The investigation began shortly after 8 a.m. Thursday when a passerby discovered the body and called 911, according to Columbia police.
“The man was located on the side of the road near the intersection of Center and McFadden Streets,” police spokeswoman Ms. Jennifer Timmons said.
It’s unclear if he was shot in the area or if his body was just dumped there.
Police are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call crimestoppers.
