A man found guilty of raping a child in 2011 could be sentenced to 25 years for the crime, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.
Following a trial on Tuesday in Madison County Circuit, Division I, Jonathon Henderson, 41, was found guilty of raping and inappropriately touching a nine-year-old girl in 2011.
Henderson had been free on $75,000 bond, the release said. After the guilty verdicts, his bond was canceled and he was taken into custody. He will be held at the Madison County Jail pending sentencing on March 11. He faces 25 years for rape of a child and eight to 12 years for aggravated sexual battery. Both crimes have no early release eligibility.
According to the release, on May 19, 2011, Jackson police was notified by the Tennessee Department of Children's Services about a child sex abuse allegation that occurred in Jackson. Police investigators and child protective services' officials conducted an investigation, which concluded that Henderson committed those crimes.
