A police investigation is underway after a man was found dead Monday morning at a McDonald’s restaurant in Hempstead.

Authorities said they received a call reporting a man was found dead around 8:45 a.m. at the McDonald’s location at 86 Main Street in Hempstead.

When police arrived, they found the 32-year-old male victim dead in the store’s bathroom, Hempstead Village Police Lt. Edward Hayman said.

A Nassau County police spokeswoman confirmed an investigation is underway at the scene, but referred all other questions to Hempstead Village police.

Hayman said Monday afternoon that the medical examiner’s office will work to determine a cause of death. Detectives with the Hempstead Village and Nassau County police departments are also investigating.
