A man in South Florida tried to trade an alligator for a 12-pack of beer. The man went to the liquor store to pick up some beers but he didn't have enough cash to pay -- so he tried to barter. The man offered the store worker a "freshly caught alligator" -- and that didn't fly. The store clerk promptly called police.
"This is absolutely bizarre. I can't imagine somebody wanting to barter a live 4-foot alligator for a 12-pack of beer. It makes no sense to me," said a spokesperson for Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation.
The South Florida man was cited 3 times for "illegal capture." The alligator was alive and in good health when authorities arrived so they released it back into the wild. It is unknown if the man often hunted gators and offered them in exchange for goods -- but this was totally out of the ordinary, there's no doubt about it!
