A man dons a pink tutu in an effort to cheer up his cancer-stricken wife -- and the photos went viral. On Dec. 15, Health Newsline reported that New York based photographer Bob Carey decided to put on a pink tutu and take photos in different locations back when his wife was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2003. Over the past several years he has kept up the gig. Years later, he and his wife have started a charity and are selling the photos to raise money for their foundation.
"After Linda was diagnosed, that’s when I went into self-therapy mode. I grabbed a tutu and we went out and started making pictures," said Bob.
Obviously, when a man dons a pink tutu, it gets tons of attention -- and when said man wears only a pink tutu while out in the snow? Well you can probably understand why these photos were a hit. In 2012, the Carey's decided to found "The Tutu Project" and "The Carey Foundation." The couple published a photo book entitled "Ballerina" and the proceeds are donated to "The Carey Foundation" which helps cancer sufferers.
"When Linda would go in for treatment she would take in the images on her phone. The women would look at them, and it would make them laugh and make the time pass," Bob added.
If a man dons a pink tutu, it might as well be for a great cause. Bob Carey has raised awareness and money to support breast cancer patients -- but most importantly, he has given people a reason to smile when sometimes that is just so hard. Check out the video above for more.
