Man detonates nomb outside south St. Louis County business

Police say a 49-year-old man is in custody after he allegedly detonated an explosive device near a south St. Louis County business on Thursday. Authorities said officers responded to the 11800 block of Tesson Ferry after a witness heard an explosion, which shook buildings and damaged the window framing of an Avon Store.

St. Louis County Police spokesman Randy Vaughn says an investigation led them to the suspect, who placed the device outside the store, then walked into Hessler’s bar. He was taken into custody later Thursday. Police say he resisted arrest. A motive has not been determined. No one was hurt.
The suspect’s name has not been released and no formal charges have been filed.
