Man in critical condition after being shot multiple times on parking lot

A 20-year-old Jackson man is in critical condition after being shot multiple times on a barber shop’s parking lot in east Jackson, according to a news release from the Jackson Police Department.

Police have not released the name of the victim and said investigators are trying to gather more information about the shooting.

The release said around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday, officers were dispatched to the scene of a shooting in the 300 block of Lane Ave. The shooting occurred near Jackson Central-Merry Academy of Medical Technology and Lane College.

The victim, who is listed in critical condition, was taken to the emergency room of the Jackson-Madison County General Hospital by ambulance.

Police were told by witnesses that a white car, with several people inside, left the scene immediately after the shooting.
