A man was left critically injured and another seriously wounded after a shooting early Sunday at a restaurant in Garden City, Nassau County police said March 16.

Investigators said there was some type of altercation among patrons around 3:26 a.m. on Sunday at Mint, a restaurant and lounge on Ring Road in Garden City. When the altercation escalated, “an unknown subject” pulled out a gun and started firing a barrage of bullets into a crowd of people, authorities said.

Two men – a 21-year-old and a 23-year-old – were shot. One was hit in the head and the other was hit in the leg. The two men were rushed to local hospitals, according to police.

As of late Saturday, the victim with the head wound was in critical condition, cops said. The victim who suffered injuries to his leg was stable.

Attempts to reach restaurant management Sunday afternoon were unsuccessful. Newsday reported the restaurant’s manager declined to comment after police released the crime scene Sunday evening.

Detectives said they did not immediately have a description of the suspect wanted in connection with the shooting. Anyone with information is urged to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential.
