Man confesses to sexual assault of a minor

It's not everyday that someone commits a crime, then turns themselves in. In today's society, everyone knows the events are going on. This week, someone goes against the norm. A Cary man, in Wake County, turned himself in over the weekend for sexually molesting a handicapped child who had been in his care for over a year.

Thirty two year old Marc Anthony Johnson was charged with two felony counts of indecent liberties with a child and one felony count of attempted first degree sex offense.

"He came forward, said what had happened and that he had to get it off his chest," Capt. Michael Williams said.

Dectectives in Cary believe the actions took place between May 1, 2011 and February 11, 2012.

"It was a child he looked after from time to time," Williams said. "The child was not a blood relative of his. It was a child of a friend of his."

The child is also reported to be autistic.

According to official records, the child is believed to have been 10 at the time the actions occured. The child's name has been withheld because of his age.
