Forty one year old Jerry Alvin Black has been charged with murder in Lincoln county. Black reportedly called 911 around 1:30 pm on Friday and told them his girlfriend had died. The odd thing is that she had been murdered and Black says he was asleep at the time.
Black's testimony is that he fell asleep on the couch Thursday night. The officer's found 42 year ols Jennifer Lee Costner's body when they arrived at the home. According to offical police reports, Costner's body had suffered blunt force trama to the head and had multiple stab wounds to her body, indicating murder.
WBTV is reporting that they have learned Baptist in Winston-Salem will perform the autopsy to determine cause of death.
Black was at the residence when police arrived. Black has a history of assault on women, drug use and sexual assault. He has been charged with first degree murder and is being held in a Lincoln county jail with no bond.
