Man charged with vehicular homicide is legally blind.
Johnson City Tennessee resident Thomas Campbell, 58, is charged with vehicular homicide and reckless endangerment in the 2007 death of Brenda Cook, a pedestrian he struck and killed with his car.
His attorneys would prefer that the prosecution not bring up one little thing at his trial, scheduled to begin Sept. 30. Thomas Campbell is legally blind.
A police report says Campbell was diagnosed as "statutorily blind with retinal macular degeneration" in 1977.
His defense attorneys want that fact suppressed.
"The standard to determine whether a person can work is not the same standard to determine if a person can drive and function in society."
Judge Lynn Brown has not yet ruled on the motion.
