A 20-year-old man was shot and left to die in the roadway in southeast Atlanta last month and on Tuesday police said they have caught the man they believe killed him.
Mr. Tavish LaShan Liggons, 25, was wanted on several other charges that include rape and assault when he was arrested and charged with murder in the death of Mr. Lorenzo Hawthorne, according to Atlanta police.
He was also charged with armed robbery and aggravated assault in the July shooting, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.
On July 22, officers responded to the 300 block of Greencove Lane regarding a 911 call of a person down, Officer Chafee said.
Officers arrived to find Mr. Hawthorne severely injured and lying in the roadway, Officer Chafee said.
He was transported to Grady Memorial Hospital and investigators later discovered that he had been shot in the head, the spokesman said.
Mr. Hawthorne died the next day.
Mr. Liggons was transported to the Fulton County jail where he remained Wednesday without bond on numerous other charges including failure to appear for child molestation, aggravated assault, false imprisonment and statutory rape, according to booking records.
