Man charged with assaulting his ex

Talk about a relationship gone wrong.

A Hempstead man finds himself accused of ramming his car into his former girlfriend and her new male companion as they made their way down a Uniondale street.

Oscar Santos was driving down Midland Street in Uniondale street on Christmas Eve, when he saw his former girlfriend with a new male companion. He became angry at what he saw, and then backed up his car, and drove straight for his two alleged victims.

He first struck the two on the front lawn of a nearby home with his Mitsubishi. Then, Santos apparently got out of his car, and kicked the young man in the head and body. After parking the car, he fled the scene on foot. Santos has been charged with assault.

The young couple have not been identified. They were both treated at Nassau County University Medical Center for injuries- the woman for a broken ankle, and her companion for sprained knees.

Santos has been charged with one count of first-degree assault, and one count of second-degree assault. He will be arraigned on Tuesday in a Hempstead courtroom.
