A Quebec man was charged with his 17th DUI after he stopped at a store to buy two-dozen beers while he was already visibly intoxicated.
CTV News reported earlier today that Maurice Larrivee "allegedly showed up this Sunday morning at a grocery store to buy a case of two dozen beers at 8:45." Larrivee ignored the store clerk, who advised him he seemed to be too drunk to drive, as well as additional employees who attempted to talk him out of returning to his car.
Store employees called police, who arrived and promptly arrested the man who is now charged with his 17th DUI. The last DUI Larrivee, 69, was charged with was back in 2005. That DUI charge eventually led to his drivers license being suspended for five years. One must wonder what Larrivee will face this time. Perhaps he will face harsh enough consequences before an innocent person is hurt by his actions.
Sadly, this is not the first man charged with his 17th DUI. Roger Walsh, also from Quebec, was sentenced to life in prison, after his 19th DUI charge, for killing a woman in an alcohol-related hit and run.
