On Wednesday, the police have announced they have arrested and charged a man in connection with the murder of a mom whose baby was found abandoned in the hallway of an apartment complex in January.
Police said they have arrested Dyanthany Proudie, 40, for the murder of Ebony Jackson who was found in the trunk of a car after her three month old baby, Donovan was found alone sitting in his car seat at an apartment complex.
Authorities said that Jackson was taking a bath when Proudie allegedly shot her one time in the head inside his home in the 4100 block of Ashland then put her body in the trunk, reports KPLR-11 news. He then took Ebony's baby and left him at the Hickory Trace Apartment complex in the Breckenridge Hills area of St. Ann where she lived.
The baby was found early in the morning in his car seat, warmly dressed with a "cozy cover" over his car seat and a bottle, said police Detective Jess Heisse. Because the hallway of the apartment complex was enclosed the baby was not exposed to the cold temperatures.
St. Louis police searched for the baby's missing family until his father, Craig Prom came forward and recognized him. Result of a paternity test confirmed that Prom was the father of three month old Donovan Prom.
The family spokesperson, Linda Lawson told Fox2 news shortly after Ebony's body was found that Ebony`s mother was grateful for the outpouring of support and confident police, and with the help of the public, can solve the case.
“There is continual action and that in and of itself is encouraging,” Lawson said. “This is like the first step on an invisible staircase and we know at the end of that staircase we will see a face to put to this crime.”
The St. Louis Police Dept. were able to do what Lawson hoped for.
