A man died more than a week after he and another person were shot at an illegal gaming house in southwest Atlanta – and police on Wednesday said they have charged someone with his shooting.
Mr. Raphael Johnson, 22, of Ellenwood, was charged with murder while already incarcerated at the Fulton County jail on unrelated charges, according to Atlanta police.
He was also charged with armed robbery, aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, according to booking records.
The shooting happened shortly after midnight at 784 Poole Place, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.
Officers responded to the scene and found two men suffering from gunshot wounds while another was complaining of chest pains, Officer Jones said.
All three were transported to Grady Memorial Hospital in stable condition, but one of the shooting victims, Mr. Frederick Burke, died later on Aug. 22, she said.
It's unclear how may people were at the gaming house at the time of the shooting and police have not released any details about the circumstances surrounding the incident.
