According to the Chicago Tribune, a Niles, Ill., man is facing animal cruelty charges after he allegedly moved out of his apartment and left his dog behind.

Hojin Lee, 37, faces two misdemeanor counts of animal cruelty for abandoning his dog, Bruno, at the apartment from which he was evicted.

Amazingly, though the dog was alone from Dec. 31 to Feb. 22, he survived.

When Bruno was found by the apartment's maintenance manager, he was "severely emaciated," and was acting lost. By the time that the little dog was discovered, the apartment was covered with urine, feces and vomit and there was no food or water available.

Lee had walked out and left a bag of food on the counter, but it was not within the dog's reach.

Bruno was treated for starvation, skin lesions and infected eyes and he was then adopted to a new guardian.

Lee was not arrested until nearly a month after Bruno was found; he is currently free on bond and due back in court on April 18.
