Man in bed swallowed by sinkhole

A man lying in his bed was swallowed into a growing sinkhole along with the dressers in his bedroom, according to CNN today.

The exterior of the house remained the same, above the ground as the sinkhole without warning swallowed the unsuspecting Jeffrey Bush and his bed. Although brother Jeremy Bush bravely tried to rescue his brother, he himself had to be saved by a rescuer as he was in danger of also perishing.

Law enforcement authorities said the corners of the sinkhole were unstable and that it would probably continue to expand. Some reports said that while the width of the sinkhole on the surface was ten feet wide, it had increased to 30-feet wide below the surface.

An emotional Jeremy said he could hear his brother screaming for help as he was caught inside the collapsing sinkhole. Jeremy said all he could see was the top of the bedposts of the bed from above as his brother disappeared.

Jeffrey Bush is currently listed as missing since he has not been recovered. Hillsborough County Fire Rescue said she could not confirm that Bush is deceased but it is safe to presume that he is since there is no evidence he is still alive.

The width of the sinkhole later grew to a 100 feet. Because it is still expanding, other homes in the neighborhoods have been evacuated. Law enforcement authorities believe the sinkhole could swallow the entire home where Bush lived along with nearby residences in the Brandon, Florida neighborhood.
