Man beats woman, drags her, and tosses her onto Philly subway tracks (Video)

Philadelphia’s finest made an arrest Thursday in the brutal and senseless attack of a defenseless woman who ended up getting tossed onto the train tracks in the Philadelphia subway system. 36-year-old William Clark was arrested yesterday by the Philly SEPTA Police in that assault.

On Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at approximately 3:20 p.m., a 23 year old female who is not being identified was waiting for a subway train at 800 Race Street in Philadelphia when she observed a man sitting on the bench.

According to the Philadelphia Police Department, as she walked past him and sat on the next set of benches, the male, William Clark, went over to her and asked her what time the train was coming.

When he asked her for a light she complied.

Then, unexpectedly and without provocation, Clark grabbed her by the neck and began punching her in the face and head with his fists.

He then grabbed the woman by both of her legs, dragged her off the bench, dragged her across the filthy subway floor, and literally threw her onto the train tracks below the elevated platform.

Clark grabbed the woman’s cell phone that had fallen out of her pocket while he was beating her.

And then he casually walked away.

The woman managed to climb back onto the subway platform, suffering only minor injuries to her head and face.

Yesterday, Septa Police observed a man fitting the description of the assailant.

William Clark was stopped for questioning and refused to cooperate with the police. Clark was wearing a yellow hooded sweatshirt covering a multi-colored leather jacket with the words “Trump Taj Mahal Casino Resorts,” the same jacket worn by the offender during the assault and caught on surveillance video.

Clark was placed into police custody after resisting arrest. He was found to be in possession of the cell phone stolen from the woman during the assault.

William Clark was charged with Aggravated Assault, Simple Assault, and Recklessly Endangering Another Person.
