A small Maltese is dead after being beaten repeatedly with a brick in a domestic violence incident, and a Youngstown, Ohio man surrendered to US Marshalls this morning in connection with the crime, according to a report posted today on WMFJ.com.

According to the article, William A. Williams was charged with domestic violence and animal cruelty.

Williams allegedly was involved in a domestic dispute with a female who was not identified by WMFJ, and began to beat the little Maltese with the brick, striking the poor dog repeatedly until he died.

An article in Vindy.com said the dog, named Gabby, was four years old. It alleges two bricks were used in the beating of the pup.

There is nothing in the article to suggest why the dog was targeted, but this is not an uncommon situation in domestic violence incidents.

At the time the WMFJ article was posted, the subject is in the Mahoning County Jail.
