An unknown crime-fighter dressed in a Batman outfit apprehended and turned over a suspected burglar to the West Yorkshire Police in Northern England on Feb. 25, CBS News reported today.
Video surveillance inside the police station captured several images of the vigilante dressed in full Dark Knight garb as he turned in the 27-year-old suspected burglar.
Police in Bradford, England shared the video images today. Police also say that they do not know the identity of the man dressed like Batman.
According to the Bradford Police Facebook page:
"Batman came into the help desk, stated to the staff, 'I've caught this one for you,' and then promptly vanished into the night to fight crime and the fear of crime in Bradford."
The suspect that got turned over to the police turned out to be quite a catch for the local police.
The suspect delivered by the man dressed like our favorite comic book hero is scheduled to appear in court on March 8 and charged with “handling stolen goods and fraud-related offenses.”
The police further reported that the suspect was also wanted in a neighboring community for another offense.
A co-manager of a costume shop in Bradford confessed to selling a Batman outfit to a man in his 20s a few days before the burglar was turned over to police. Although that manager has a credit card slip bearing the buyer’s name, she has decided to keep the Batman’s true identity a secret.
