Man auctioning vintage Thundercats action figures to raise money to buy house

Many of us passionately pursue hobbies, and for countless different reasons, prominent among them being the desire to experience moments of escapism from a “real world” that can be unfair or downright cruel. Sometimes, however, real life has consequences even for our hobbyist pursuits, as one man is learning the hard way.

In a blog post detailing the sentimentality this retro games-and-other-items collector holds for a set of 1985 action figures based on the popular Thundercats cartoon, he reveals that he has decided to auction off the items on eBay in order to raise money to eventually buy a house, while also elaborating on his nostalgic experiences. Settling into the home one desires is obviously an important step for anyone, often coming with the painful necessity of sacrifice.

There are dozens of pieces being offered, and at press time several have eclipsed the $50 mark in their bids, with some likely to climb significantly higher. Many can undoubtedly relate to the difficult parting of ways with treasured toys and other artifacts collected since childhood.

His clever personality has been on full display on Twitter for quite some time, but this is one case where the narrative has taken a rare note of melancholy sadness. Hopefully, though, the necessary steps to offload valuable keepsakes will be off in a big way when a mortgage is being signed.
