The driver of a dirty box truck attempted to lure a 12-year-old girl into his vehicle earlier this month – and on Saturday police released a sketch of the suspect.

The man is described as a thin white male, about 60 years old, between 5 feet, 10 inches and 6 feet tall. He has blue eyes, brown and grey hair and a grey goatee or beard, according to Atlanta police.

On the day of the alleged incident, he was wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and black pants, police said.

The incident happened around 8 a.m. on March 4 when the 12-year-old girl was waiting at a bus stop near the intersection of Jonesboro and Constitution roads in southeast Atlanta, police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.

“A male pulled up in a white box truck and told the female to get into the truck,” Officer Chafee said. “The female refused and began to walk away.”

The man exited the dirty white box truck, which had papers on the dashboard and again told her to get inside, Officer Chafee said. The girl then ran away and the male drove off in the box truck, he said.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation completed the sketch of the suspect and anyone with information on his identity and whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers Atlanta at (404) 577-8477.
