Man arrested with 1,000 pounds of stolen mail in Washington State

Port Townsend, Washington police arrested a man and found that he had over 1,000 pounds of stolen mail. According to Yahoo News on Thursday, Feb. 14, 2013, the man was wanted for escaping from community custody in Federal Way.

State correctional officers had been looking for Adam Lysiak and when they found him, they also solved the mystery of missing mail. Over half of the stolen mail had Kitsap County addresses, according to Officer Luke Bogues.

Lysiak’s previous convictions included possession of stolen property, identity theft and possession of fraudulent bank checks. The 38-year-old allegedly took the mail during the night from mailboxes around the county and it is believed he was using the information to create fake identities, forge identification cards, use stolen credit cards and pass bad checks.

Lysiak’s bail was set at $250,000 after his arrest on Tuesday. He is under arrest for possession of stolen property and he’s being investigated for identity fraud.
