A man allegedly sexually assaulted two women at a Clarke County homeless shelter and then offered one of them money for sex.
Mr. Joseph C. Brown, 53, was charged Sunday with two counts of sexual battery and pandering, according to the Athens-Clarke County police. He was transported to the Clarke County jail.
The investigation began at 12:37 a.m. when officers responded to the Bigger Vision Homeless Shelter at 95 North Ave., Lt. Keith Morris said.
“There they met with two female victims, ages 43 and 56, who reported they had been touched inappropriately by a male while in the shelter, and the 43 year-old reported the male had offered her cash for sexual favors,” Lt. Morris said.
The accused, Mr. Brown, is also homeless, Lt. Morris said.
It’s unclear how long Mr. Brown has been staying at the shelter and if police are investigating whether there are any more alleged victims.
