According to Monday's publication of WCPO News, a Lincoln Heights, Ohio, man is in trouble with the law after he allegedly beat his dog with a shovel and threatened his neighbors.

Authorities arrested 59-year-old Standley Bryant on Saturday after a witness reported that the man was abusing his dog, who was described as a pit bull mix.

A witness advised the police that Bryant had beaten the dog in the head with a shovel and a belt, and stated that he had also choked the dog with a chain.

According to Cincinnati.com, the violent behavior continued after the police arrived. Bryant is accused of threatening his neighbor, who he believed had reported him to the police.

Bryant allegedly threatened to shoot the neighbor in the face and kill her children.

The dog survived the abuse and was taken in by the SPCA of Cincinnati; Bryant was taken to jail. Bryant appeared in court on Monday and claimed that the police were lying; the judge who heard Bryant's statement told the man that he “is a disgrace to the community."
