A Hicksville man was arrested Tuesday on felony robbery charges after he allegedly pushed another man into a parked car and then stole his wallet and backpack, Nassau County police said in a news release.
Dominick Marinelli, 20, of 65 Combes Ave., will be arraigned Oct. 9 at First District Court in Hempstead on a charge of second-degree robbery.
Police said a 49-year-old man was walking towards the Hicksville Long Island Rail Road station at 12:35 a.m. on Tuesday, when he was approached from behind.
Detectives believe Marinelli followed the man into the east parking lot of the train station and pushed him into a parked car. As the victim fell, police said, Marinelli took off with his wallet and backpack.
Police located Marinelli “a short distance away.” They said the victim was able to positively identify him as the culprit. Authorities later recovered the victim’s possessions, after a search of the area nearby.
The unidentified victim suffered cuts and abrasions. He refused medical treatment.
