Security workers at JFK airport in New York found knives, lighters and other weapons in passenger Timothy Schiavo Jr.'s carry-on bag during a security screening on Saturday, Oct. 19, 2013.
MSNBC reports that that Schiavo, 29, attempted to bring a trench knife with metal knuckles on a plane leaving from Terminal 5 in the airport.
Police also found several pairs of scissors, pocket knives, lighters, matches, a bottle opener and other potentially dangerous items in Schiavo's carry-on bag.
According to a statement issued by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey Police spokesman Joe Pentangelo, Schiavo was arrested by authorities and charged with two counts of criminal possession of a weapon.
Schiavo is reportedly from Patchogue, N.Y. and was still in custody on Saturday evening. There is no word at this time if he has been released with bail.
Police state that the investigation is ongoing.
