Lee S. Peterson, 39, was charged with animal cruelty and domestic violence threat after police were called out to his residence on August 31.
His wife called police after Peterson allegedly picked up their dog and slammed the pit bull to the ground. Peterson was intoxicated according to police, and his wife was afraid that she may be next.
The police reported that the dog had blood on her neck. Peterson also had blood on his clothes, but claimed the stains were from his vehicle.
His wife was advised to have the dog checked out by a veterinarian.
Peterson’s next court date is scheduled for September 6. His bond was set at $60,000.
