According to a Feb. 18, 2014 press release by the Nashua Police Department, patrol officers arrested a man after he allegedly pointed a rifle at a 44 year-old man at a Cottage Avenue residence on the night of Feb. 17, 2014.
Police said Joseph Blumenthal, 26, of 86 Blueberry Hill Road, Derry, NH is charged with two counts of the class B felony, Reckless Conduct.
The release stated, that at approximately 9:00 p.m. on Feb. 17, 2014, patrol officers responded to a Cottage Avenue residence where a 44 year-old man reported Blumenthal had pointed a rifle at him.
Upon the officers’ arrival, they learned that Blumenthal had been involved in a verbal dispute while he was intoxicated and in possession of a loaded firearm. Blumenthal was placed under arrest at approximately 10:20 p.m. and charged with Reckless Conduct.
Detectives of the Criminal Investigation Division followed up and discovered that Blumenthal had been involved in a similar situation about two months earlier, when he was intoxicated and pointed a different firearm at a 32 year-old female while at the same Cottage Avenue residence. Blumenthal was charged with an additional count of Reckless Conduct.
Police recovered both of the involved firearms. Blumenthal was held at the Nashua Police Department on $10,000 cash or surety bail pending his arraignment at the 9th Circuit District Division Nashua Court on Feb. 18, 2014.
