Deputies have arrested a man who allegedly raped and robbed a 20-year-old after forcing the victim to get into his vehicle at gun point last weekend in Orangeburg.
Orangeburg County deputies on Wednesday arrested Mr. Dietrich Tremayne Funchess, 20, and charged him with kidnapping, criminal sexual conduct, armed robbery and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, the sheriff’s spokeswoman Ms. Keisa Gunby said.
Deputies declined to say what was stolen from the victim and where the sexual assault happened.
Investigators said between 2:45 and 3:35 a.m. on Saturday, the victim was walking in the area of Goff and Coleman streets when a man driving a black vehicle stopped.
The man asked if the victim needed a ride and he was told “no,” Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said.
But then the man pointed a handgun and the victim was forced to get into the vehicle, Sheriff Ravenell said. The victim was then sexually assaulted and robbed, officials said.
