A 30-year-old man is behind bars in Allegheny County, Pa., for allegedly cutting the head off of his parents' dog on Wednesday night, reported Thursday's publication of the Post-Gazette.

The man accused of the disturbing crime is Matthew Ondo of Brighton Heights.

Ondo's parents contacted the police after finding their decapitated, 14-month-old dog "Izzy" in the backyard. The teacup Chihuahua was found on a picnic in the yard...her head was separate from her body. Police also discovered a machete and a knife which are believed to have been used on the tiny dog.

According to the police, Ondo initially denied killing the young dog, but later, said:

“The devil did it. Allah did it” and later “the Mexican did it,”

Ondo's parents describe their son as an unemployed heroin addict who may have psychological problems.

Ondo, who was unable to post bail, is being held on charges of animal cruelty and possessing instruments of crime; he is scheduled to appear in court on Feb. 26.
