On Friday night, the man accused of viciously attacking a young dog with a sword, in Spring Lake, N.C., turned himself in to police.
According to Saturday's WTVD News, the man believed to be responsible for Sunday's attack is 36-year-old Laurence Dyson. Following his surrender to police, he was charged with felony cruelty to animals.
The victimized dog, "Gunnar," is still recovering from the savage attack which left him missing large chunks of flesh from his leg and face.
The dog, described as a shepherd mix, has been taken in by the rescue organization, Noah's Arks Rescue, and the person who owned him prior to the attack has relinquished ownership.
Gunnar was attacked last Sunday and discovered later by his owner. Two days later, the dog was given to to animal control, who in turn, contacted Noah's Arks Rescue for assistance.
Authorities released Dyson on a $5,000 unsecured bond.
