A 67-year-old man was killed and two people, including a 3-year-old boy, were injured in a collision that happened Saturday afternoon in Cobb County.
The crash happened around 4:45 p.m. on Paper Mill Road near Atlanta Country Club Drive in Marietta, according to Cobb County police.
Investigators said Mr. Eddie B. Stickland, of Marietta, was slowly driving a green 1929 Ford Model A up a steep grade on Paper Mill Road when a silver 2008 Volkswagen Jetta struck the elderly man’s Ford from behind.
“The collision forced the Model A into the westbound lanes where it overturned and collided with silver 2004 Toyota Sienna,” police spokesman Officer Mike Bowman said.
The 67-year-old Ford driver, Mr. Strickland, died at the scene, Officer Bowman said. His passenger, Mrs. Lynn Strickland, 67, was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital for serious injuries.
A 3-year-old passenger in the Ford was transported to the Children’s Health Care of Atlanta Scottish Rite Hospital and treated for non life-threatening injuries.
The driver of the Volkswagen, Ms. Shaina Carter Fernandez, 28, of Sandy Springs was not injured. And neither was the driver of the Toyota, Ms. Debra Shuping, 59, of Marietta.
The collision remains under investigation and charges are expected to be filed when the investigation is complete, Officer Bowman said.
