A 59-year-old man was arrested Tuesday after he was allegedly caught performing a sex act outside a business, twice in two days in Cherokee County.

Mr. Paul Lamar Phillips, of Canton, was charged with two counts of indecent exposure, according to the Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office.

"The Cherokee Sheriff’s Office has received two reports of a white male masturbating in his vehicle at local businesses in the Hickory Flat area," the sheriff’s spokesman Lt. Jay Baker said.

The first alleged incident happened around 9 a.m. Monday at the Kroger on Hickory Flat Highway, Lt. Baker said. The second happened around 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the CVS on Hickory Flat Highway, he said.

“In both instances the suspect was reportedly in a gold or tan minivan,” Lt. Baker said.

Deputies flooded the area and located a gold Kia minivan in the area. It was pulled over at the entrance to the Kroger on Hickory Flat Highway.

The victim in Tuesday’s alleged incident positively identified the driver of the vehicle as the man she witnessed at the CVS.

Mr. Phillips was out on bond for a 2013 Burglar. He is currently in the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center with no bond.
