A 42-year-old man was shot and left to die on the sidewalk of a northwest Atlanta street Wednesday night.

So far, police have not identified a suspect.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Mr. Anthony Holland, of Atlanta.

Shortly before 6 p.m., officers responded to the 500 block of English Avenue after getting a report of a person shot, according to Atlanta police.

When officers arrived, they found the man, dead on the sidewalk, police spokesman Sgt. Gregory Lyon said. The man appeared to have been shot, but police have not released any details on where he was struck.

Investigators also had little details on the circumstances of the shooting.

“The preliminary investigation indicates that the male may have been involved in an argument that escalated to gunfire,” police spokesman Officer John Chafee said.

The medical examiner’s office was doing an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
