A 34-year-old Columbia man was found stabbed to death early Saturday morning at the apartment complex where he lived in Richland County.

And so far, investigators don’t know who stabbed the man or why.

The Richland County Coroner has identified the man as Mr. Derrick Land, of 1800 Longcreek Drive.

“An autopsy conducted this morning shows that he died from complications of multiple stab wounds to the upper body,” Coroner Mr. Gary Watts said Saturday in a news release. No description was provided on the possible weapon used.

Mr. Land was found around 1:15 a.m. in the parking lot of The Views on Longcreek Apartments off Broad River Road, official said.

It’s unclear who found the man or how long he has been dead before he was found. It was also unclear if investigators have any witnesses to the stabbing.

Deputies are asking anyone with information about the stabbing to call Crimestoppers at (888) 274-6372.
