A 28-year-old man was found shot to death late Tuesday night at a home in northwest Atlanta – and officials said he was killed in the same neighborhood where another man was killed two weeks earlier.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim in the most recent shooting as Brandon Burns, of Atlanta. Police said on Wednesday that they still don’t know who shot the man or why.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. in the 2300 block of St. James Drive, according to Atlanta police. Officers responded to the home near Lookout Avenue and found the man dead after being shot multiple times, police spokeswoman Officer Kim Jones said.

Police have not released any details on the circumstances surrounding the shooting or any information on a possible suspect. It was also unclear if there were any witnesses. Still, police said they believe the victim was the intended target, according to media report. But they did not say why.

More than two weeks earlier another man, 34-year-old Jeffrey Williams, of Atlanta, was also shot to death in the same area, according to the medical examiner’s office. And his murder has not yet been solved.

Officers found a Honda backed up against a utility pole with several bullet holes through the windshield and Williams dead inside, according to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Police are checking to see if there is any connection between the two shootings.

“We’re not sure if it’s related; it’s too early to tell,” Lt. Charles Hampton said. “Obviously, we’ll get the investigators together just to share notes to see if there’s any similarities in the two homicides.”
