Man, 25, shot to death after group opens fire in East Point

A 24-year-old man was killed early Wednesday morning in East Point after two groups got into an argument that ended in gun fire.

So far, no one has been charged and police hours later were still trying to determine why the groups were arguing.

Around 12:45 a.m., officers responded to Washington Road and Lakemont Drive after getting a call that a man had been shot several times near an apartment complex, according to East Police.

Officers arrived to find Mr. Dennis Savage, 25, of East Point, dead from a gunshot wound, Capt. Russell Popham said.

Investigators said two groups of people were arguing when one group produced weapons and started firing at the other group.

Several shots were fired, but only one man was hit, Capt. Popham said. He did not say where in the body the man was shot or the type of gun used.

Police are in the process of interviewing witnesses to find out what exactly what happened, and hopefully determine who were all involved, Capt. Popham said.
